Vanderburgh Industrial Park certified as AT&T’s First Fiber-Ready Site in Indiana
Certification Reflects Presence of Fiber-Based, High-Speed Internet
As part of AT&T’s continuing efforts to drive economic development and investment in Indiana, AT&T and elected officials from Vanderburgh Co. today announced that the Vanderburgh Industrial Park has been certified as being AT&T Fiber Ready – the first site in Indiana to receive this certification.
“AT&T is investing in high-speed Internet in urban and rural areas across Indiana using the latest wired and wireless technologies, and we are proud to highlight the Vanderburgh Industrial Park as one of many places in Indiana where AT&T’s fiber infrastructure is in place and ready to help local businesses drive job creation,” said Bill Soards, president of AT&T Indiana.
“Positive, pro-business policies embraced by Indiana’s state and local elected officials continue to make our state a great place to invest, and I’m proud of the work our AT&T Indiana employees have done deploying fiber and other infrastructure that delivers high-speed Internet access. Their hard work and skills, combined with millions of dollars in AT&T investment, enable Hoosiers to connect and innovate,” Soards added.
In today’s world, connectivity is vital to new employers and businesses of every type. There’s no such thing as a “low-tech” business today, so economic development leaders must be able to tout the presence of high-speed internet connectivity.
"As a former project manager in the private sector, I have some experience in evaluating potential new plant sites. I realize the importance of a strong infrastructure for a new site selection and I am pleased that here at the Vanderburgh Industrial Park, with the help of AT&T, we offer state-of-the-art, high-speed Internet communications service for our clients,” said Vanderburgh Co. Commissioner Bruce Ungethiem. “With this new designation, Vanderburgh Industrial Park will have a competitive advantage when talking to potential companies about their expansion needs."
“Evansville is a welcoming community with some of the greatest people and places, and we want to be sure that it’s clear we also have the latest technology; allowing new companies to locate and existing companies to grow with confidence,” Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke said. “This Fiber Ready certification helps our economic development leaders send that message noticeably as they work to bring businesses and jobs to Evansville and Vanderburgh Co. With the designation of being AT&T Fiber Ready, economic development leaders can more effectively position their communities for site selection by emphasizing the availability of high-speed, fiber-based services.”
“Our resources in Vanderburgh Co. are extensive, but if potential investors aren’t aware of the impressive tech infrastructure in place, then we face the potential of missing many opportunities. This AT&T fiber-ready designation helps to eliminate those missed opportunities,” said Chris Kinnett, president of the Growth Alliance for Greater Evansville. “Indiana’s economy is headed in the right direction, in large part because of the leadership at both state and local levels.”
