Thermoplastics Manufacturer and Supplier Expands in Vanderburgh County

VANDERBURGH COUNTY, Ind. (February 22, 2016) –DSM Engineering Plastics, a global supplier of high-performance engineering thermoplastic solutions, announced plans today to expand operations in Vanderburgh County, adding 34 new jobs over the next 2 years.

Southwestern Indiana has a long history in the plastics industry and we look forward to the company’s continued growth and success,” stated Bruce Ungethiem, President of the Vanderburgh County Commissioners.

The Netherlands-based, multinational, life sciences and materials sciences company will invest in infrastructure and new equipment upgrades to support future growth at its existing 175,000 square-foot facility at 2267 W Mill Road.

Currently employing 160 team members in Evansville, DSM will expand their workforce from 24/5 operation to 24/7 operations, retaining an estimated 143 jobs and adding 34 new jobs over the next 2 years. With the addition of new jobs and investment in Vanderburgh County, the Growth Alliance for Greater Evansville recommends an incentive package that includes 10 year Tax-Phase In on the real-estate improvements they intend to make. The Growth Alliance also suggests Tax Phase-In for personal property that is new to the State of Indiana and purchased within the first 5 years.

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered DSM Engineering Plastics, Inc. up to $200,000 in conditional tax credits based on the company’s investment plans. These incentives are performance-based.

The positive economic impact generated from this project for Vanderburgh County totals in excess of $640 million over the next 10 years, or in excess of $64 million per year.
