Growth Alliance Announces President Departure

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (January 8, 2020) –Growth Alliance announces the departure of President Ellen Horan. President since March of 2017, her parting comes as a family decision to join her husband who relocated to Texas last year. Horan’s last day with the Growth Alliance economic development team will be January 31, 2020.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors, I thank Ellen for her thoughtful and trailblazing leadership at the Growth Alliance and outstanding service to this community,” said Brad Ellsworth chairman of the Growth Alliance board. “We were fortunate to welcome Ellen to the greater Evansville community and wish her and her family the best.” 

In almost three years with the Growth Alliance, Horan lead projects to attract new and expand existing businesses in greater Evansville resulting in over 645 new high-wage jobs and over $200 million dollars in new capital investment.  In addition, she actively led Growth Alliance quality of place projects fostering innovation in our community with the successful expansion of Evansville’s first coworking space; Cowork Evansville, and recent relaunch of a downtown makerspace; Make It Evansville. Both spaces are located at Innovation Pointe—a certified technology park and small business incubator managed by the Growth Alliance.

Horan has been closely involved in numerous economic and community initiatives, including the e is for everyone community campaign, a member of the City of Evansville’s Revolving Loan Board, Grow Southwest Indiana Workforce Board, EVSC OptIN program, and Evansville Rotary.

 “The upward momentum of the region is tangible and energizing. The Growth Alliance Board, Mayor, Commissioners and City and County Council have been very supportive of the organization and very open in their thinking about Evansville’s potential and opportunities,” stated Ellen Horan. “It has been a great time to be a part of the Evansville community leadership.
