Downtown Evansville Medical School
Construction of the Evansville Multi-Institutional Academic Health Science Education and Research campus in downtown Evansville is underway!To be completed by early 2018 the 149,000 square foot building will house classrooms, an amphitheater, and a state of the art simulation center.
Indiana University, the University of Evansville, and the University of Southern Indiana are proud partners of the med school. Along with the three universities, four regional hospitals have also partnered, including: St. Mary's Health System and Deaconess Health System in Evansville, Indiana, Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana and Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, Indiana.
According to Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke “Training resident physicians at home is important because we know 70 percent of doctors stay in communities where they do their training.”
Construction of the $61 million campus will be complete by early 2018. Economically, the med school is projected to produce $340 million in annual impact by 2020. Already since the spring of 2014, 25 new businesses have started and 4 have expanded in Evansville.

Downtown Evansville Municipal Riverfront Development District Liquor License
3-way liquor licenses are available to eligible dining, entertainment, and cultural establishments for $1,000 as a way to spur development along and near the riverfront. This district was made possible via state legislation and an Ordinance passed by the City of Evansville Common Council that designated the district and adopted eligibility requirements.

Downtown Design Review Process
The Growth Alliance for Greater Evansville provides assistance to those who wish to make exterior renovations and/or changes to property in the Downtown Redevelopment Area (refer to map). Examples of exterior changes include, but are not limited to: new construction, demolition, building additions, façade renovations, changes in parking lots, landscaping, curb cuts, drainage and new signage or changes to signage.

Downtown Walking App
No matter what the season, Downtown Evansville has a lot to offer! You can stroll along the Riverfront Greenway, choose from a number of restaurants to eat, browse the antique shops, socialize in the coffee houses, or grab a drink at the bars and nightclubs. If you are looking for entertainment, check to see what’s happening at the Ford Center, The Centre, Tropicana Casino, or the Victory Theatre. Children and adults of all ages will enjoy the Children’s Museum of Evansville (cMoe), the Evansville Museum, the LST-325 Museum and the Historic Reitz Home.
