Torsion Group Corp. Expands Facility and Operations in Evansville

Evansville, Ind. (March 4, 2020) – Torsion Group Corp., a value-added distributor and manufacturer of commercial and residential garage door parts and accessories, announced plans to double its Evansville facility footprint. The company is expanding manufacturing processes, adding distribution and warehousing and creating 18 new jobs by 2025.

“Indiana’s skilled talent pipeline and pro-growth business climate, paired with our state’s robust manufacturing industry, create the perfect place for companies like Torsion Group to invest and expand,” said Indiana Secretary of Commerce Jim Schellinger. “We’re grateful Torsion Group chose to double its footprint in southwest Indiana, advancing the state’s reputation as a leader in manufacturing and supporting even more quality job opportunities for Hoosiers.”

The Strongsville, Ohio-based, private equity-owned company will invest $4.1 million to add new manufacturing equipment and expand its current 28,800 square-foot facility to 57,600 square-feet in the Vanderburgh Industrial Park. The Evansville expansion also includes the addition of warehousing and distribution, supporting brands and products from all five of its U.S. locations.

“Evansville is perfectly centered in the Midwest where 80% of garage door OEM customers manufacture new doors,” said Joe Sitzman, vice president of operations and COO of Torsion Group Corp. “It is also geographically centered between Torsion Group’s distribution centers located in Ohio, Georgia, Wisconsin and Arizona; providing a competitive freight advantage for our customers.”

Serving OEMs, installers, contractors, and dealers, Torsion manufactures plastics related components for the garage door industry at their Evansville location. Their capabilities include plastic and rubber extrusion, injection molding, thermoforming and window frame fabrication. By adding warehouse space, this facility will become the 5th distribution point for Torsion Group Corp’s dealer and contractor customers allowing for local pick-up of stock products.

“We credit Torsion Group Inc. for recognizing the economic and logistic advantage Vanderburgh County offers,” said County Commissioner President Jeff Hatfield. “We look forward to their continued growth and success in the Vanderburgh Industrial Park.”

The company currently employs more than 30 associates with plans to hire 18 additional team members in the immediate future. Applicants may apply in person at the Torsion Group Corp. facility located at 5400 Foundation Blvd., Evansville, IN 47725.

At the request of the Growth Alliance, the Vanderburgh County Council will consider approval of an incentive package that includes 5-year Tax Phase-in on real estate improvements and personal property new to the state of Indiana.

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) offered Torsion Group up to $100,000 in conditional tax credits based on the company’s job creation plans. These tax credits are performance-based, meaning the company is eligible to claim incentives once Hoosiers are hired.
